Linux TAR Command

Create linux tar gz (Gzip) archive

tar -czvf archive.tgz directory/

-t to option to create an linux tar archive
-c to create a new archive

.tgz is same as .tar.gz
For  tar archive withouth compresion

tar -cvf  archive.tar directory/
Extract linux tar gz (Gzip) archive

tar -xzvf archive.tgz

Extract linux simple tar archive
tar -xvf archive.tar

-x to extract the files form the tar archive
-x, –extract, –get extract files from an archive

Extract linux tar archive to speciefied directory
tar -xvzf filename.tar.gz -C /path

Usage:

tar [OPTION]… [FILE]…

-c, –create                      create a new archive
-z, –gzip, –ungzip        filter the archive through gzip
-v, –verbose                   verbosely list files processed
-f, –file=ARCHIVE          use archive file or device ARCHIVE

[FB App] Facebook developer issues – solutions

At first, if your app is based on FBML, go and update it to iframe based immediately.

Because FBML are no longer supported by Facebook. So you should switch your app from canvas to iframe and use graph API function to fetch and display data.

Recently people are facing “document.getElementById is null” issue. Also, Ajax/Javascript is not working on FBML pages. Facebook has clearly mentioned on the same here;

So switch to iframe at the earliest without waiting for the things to be fixed at FB end. Also, make sure to clear the deprecations often.

If you see any issue with the app, firts thing you should do is to check;  http://developers.facebook.com/live_status/

If there is no info about the issue you are facing on live_status,  then file the bug here; http://bugs.developers.facebook.net/

Calling External Javascript after Ajax Call [Mootoools]

If you are trying to run the script in an updated div, that may work with the internal scripts – something like;

But when you try to access some external javascrips, (e.g);

 

that will not work.

The work-around is;

[if you are using mootools.js for making ajax calls] / for other frame-works, check how to set ‘evalScripts’ param

1) First step is to, add

“evalScripts: true” param

(E.g)

new Ajax(url, {
method: ‘get’,
update: $(‘content’),
evalScripts: true
}).request();

2) Then in the div, make the javascript look like;

(or)

Load the javascript dynamically like this; [if 'Asset.javascript' is not supported]

[Windows] Starting MySQL from the Windows Command Line

The MySQL server can be started manually from the command line. This can be done on any version of Windows.

To start the mysqld server from the command line, you should start a console window (or “DOS window”) and enter this command:

shell> “C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysqld”

The path to mysqld may vary depending on the install location of MySQL on your system.

If mysqld doesn’t start,

  • Try mysqld –console; in this case, you may get some useful information on the screen that may help solve the problem
  • check the error log to see whether the server wrote any messages there to indicate the cause of the problem. The error log is located in the C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\data directory. It is the file with a suffix of .err.

This one is for all those, who have been bluffed by their partners, that they are ready for the Big ‘M’. Believe me you can always fool yourself to think that you are, but there are some Scientific Techniques of finding out the truth.

So it’s simple now, just follow any of these listed techniques to find if you are ready for marriage, and find it for yourself.

1: The Room Trap Method

Method Summary: This is a very easy and efficient way to find out. Here’s how you can do it.

One fine day enter into your bedroom, take a big iron lock, and lock your room from inside. and then throw the key outside from the window. make sure that you don’t have anything of interest with you in the room. No laptops, mobile,etc…

Now if you are able to stay in that room, without any problem, till someone discovers that you have been in that room for last 2 days, without any food, water and entertainment. It means that you are ready to Go!

Else, if you start feeling TRAPPED! and you start crying for help, you want to get out, but you have no key and you feel helpless….then you have got it, it’s what the marriage is all about! stay away from it

2: The Credit Card Abuse Method

Method Summary: On one fine day go to a busy market street, and drop your credit card on the road and you are all set, just come back to home. and sit relaxed for month, and wait for your credit card statement to come.

Now please go through the bill and details of how your credit card got abused. If you can take all this and still smile and are in position to pay the bill, then you are ready! just say those words “I do”

Else please understand that your credit card will be abused like this for the rest of your life, and you will have to take all this with a smile on your face. so think twice before you do the DO!

Time to Smile

One young man went for an IAS Interview.

“When did India get independence?” He was asked.

“The efforts began a few years earlier and final result was in 1947″ He replied.

“Who was responsible for our independence?”

“There were so many. Whom to mention? If I name one, it will be a injustice to another.” He replied.

“Is corruption the number one enemy in our country?”

“Some research is going on the subject and I can answer with certainly only after seeing the report” He replied.

The interview board was very pleased with his original and thoughtful answers and asked him not to reveal the questions to others, since they were planning to ask the same questions.

When he went out naturally others were curious to know what was asked. He politely declined, but one persistent Santa would not leave him. “At least tell me the answers” he pleaded, and our friend obliged.

Then it was the turn of this Santa. When he went inside, since his resume was slightly illegible, the board member asked him.” By the way, what is your date of birth?”

Somewhat puzzled, they asked another clarification. “What is your fathers name?”

He replied, “There were so many. Whom to mention”. If I name one, it will be injustice to another”.

The interviewer was incensed.

Smile and light up someones day

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with cupcakes, several cans of root beer and started on his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he saw an elderly woman. She was sitting on a park bench watching the pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed the lady looked hungry so he offered her a cupcake. She gratefully accepted and smiled at him.

Her smile was so wonderful that he wanted to see it again, so he offered a root beer as well. Once again she smiled at him. The boy was delighted!

They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling without saying a word.

As it began to grow dark, the boy realized how tired he was and wanted to go home. He got up to leave but before he had gone no more than a few steps, he turned around and ran back to the old woman, giving her a big hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.
When the boy arrived home his Mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked, What has made you so happy today He replied, I had lunch with God. Before his mother could respond he added, You know what She’s got the most beautiful smile in the whole world!

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face. He asked, Mother, what has made you so happy today She replied, I ate cupcakes in the park with God. And before her son could reply, she added, You know, he is much younger than I expected.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring; all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Take no one for granted and embrace all equally with joy!
